Royal dessert (皇室甜品)

Never say no to dessert….

Area: Tsuen Wan | Kowloon City

Kitchen: Cantonese dessert restaurant

Price range: Table full of desserts to share will cost about 100 hkd per person.

Reservations: No need.

Experience: When we think of desserts, it’s cakes, puddings and ice creams that comes to mind. In Hong Kong, however, the perfect way to end a meal comes mostly in the form of a bowl of warm soup or sweet custard. These traditional Cantonese desserts are known as tong sui  (糖水). Each shop has their own secret recipes, some passed down through the generations, and most of them consist milk, beans, herbs and fruits. Don’t know where to start? Order the mango pancake, mango sago, glutinous rice balls and egg waffle to start, and see how much space you’ve left for some bean curd soup, tofu pudding or glass jelly.

Kiki & Amèl’s favourites: Mango pancake & HK egg waffle.

Address: 188 Chung On Street, Tsuen Wan | 15 South Wall Road, Kowloon City.
